Honors, Certificates, & Academic Designations
The Honors Track provides students the opportunity to participate more fully with
the Honors College and to earn official Departmental Honors in Psychology. This is
the only way psychology majors can earn an honors designation on their actual diploma.
The Honors Track includes higher-level coursework and extensive research culminating
in an honors thesis.
The Human Factors Certificate is a 20 credit hour, open certificate available to all
majors, including Psychology. The main purpose of Human Factors is to improve human
interactions with equipment, software, and other people in ways that enhance performance,
increase safety, and improve user satisfaction. The certificate can also easily fit
within a psychology major.
The University of Utah offers a number of other certificates, and academic designations
to enhance education. The work involved in earning a certificate or academic designation
often provides deeper knowledge in a specific area of interest. Certificates and
academic designations also help develop usable skill sets, and may provide a way to
create a portfolio of work that can be used for employment, graduate school, or other
opportunities.
