Fred Rhodewalt Social Psychology Winter Conference

Salt Lake City, Utah - January 9 - 11, 2020

About

The conference combines some very pleasurable skiing with quality talks. The typical day includes skiing or other recreation from morning until 4:00 p.m. followed by talks from 4:30 to 7:00. After the talks people usually continue their discussions by breaking into small groups for dinner and an evening of socializing. We hope to limit the conference to around 20-30 participants, of whom no more than nine would present summaries of their recent research. The program will be limited to one session each evening consisting of three talks in the three hour program. There will be three sessions. Each talk will last 30 minutes followed by up to fifteen minutes for questions and discussion. There will also be plenty of additional time to discuss the details of one's research in private with other researchers. The conference will take place in the Presidential Suite at the University of Utah football stadium, which will include a conference room with tables and chairs, blackboard, podium, LCD projector, overhead projector, and projection screen.

Times & Dates

Please consider attending the Social Psychology Winter Conference scheduled for the dates of January 9th to the 11th, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah (arrive Wednesday the 8th, meetings from Thursday the 9th to Saturday the 11th, depart on Sunday the 12th).

The purpose of this announcement is to describe the conference and to solicit your participation. The conference provides a casual and relaxed setting for the exchange of ideas among researchers on a broad range of social psychological topics. Attached are copies of programs from previous years to provide you with a sense of the breadth of the topics. This format has worked very well and we hope to continue the spirit of the earlier conferences. Thus it is our desire to attract participants from all areas of social psychology rather than feature one specialized field.

Skiing & Other Activities

The Cottonwood Canyons and Park City ski areas are the largest ski areas in Utah with a wide range of runs from beginner to expert including open bowl skiing. Park City Mountain Resort offers snowboarding. Deer Valley is world famous for its groomed slopes and top-shelf amenities. Brighton, Solitude, and Snowbird offer snowboarding in the Cottonwood Canyons ski areas, while Alta offers skiing only.

All ski areas are within a 30-45 minute drive from the hotels, depending on hotel location. Rental of ski equipment (downhill or cross country), lessons, and ski storage facilities are available at many convenient locations around the valley, including at the resorts and in Salt Lake.
